Golden toned or gold impurities?

    Very common form of toning on silver. I have seen hundreds of identical examples.

    Just toning weird but silver none the less. That's about $14 today.

    I agree, toning, not gold.

    You certainly could layer enough gold onto a silver coin to be worth something extra. I've just never seen or heard of it being done. Most "gold-plated" coins bear at most a few tens of cents worth of gold, even at today's prices.
