    Is this a keeper or a throw back? Photo_2026-02-18 11_58_50_274.JPG Photo_2026-02-18 12_01_13_242.JPG Photo_2026-02-18 12_00_53_258.JPG Photo_2026-02-18 12_02_21_070.JPG Photo_2026-02-18 12_01_45_418.JPG

Flat and shelflike = Worthless doubling :bored:

LIBERTY has some more pronounced machine doubling. The mintmark might be an RPM, but I can't tell for sure from the picture.

The only reason to keep this coin is because it’s copper and they haven’t been copper since mid 1982. Also since cents are not made any more. My LCS pays three cents for copper Lincoln Memorial Cents.

Yes, but not my Unstruck copper planchets. That's just my 2 cents.... :p

Just keep it as an oddity, as little value.

It is a RPM and still red but the R and U and S in trust has some doubling but my phone camera is not quality so I can't do it any justice no matter what I try. I guess it's time for an upgrade or I'll never be able to get any good pictures and I feel like I'm wasting everyone's time, so I'm sorry if I am and thank you for your patience

You aren’t wasting everyones time, but by all means upgrade if you can and take time to learn your new tool. Some of these pics are really good already but you should ensure whatever you post is in-focus. A 3 megapixel USB microscope isn’t expensive and may solve all your posting problems. Check those out. I use a Celestron Pro which ran around $100 seven years ago.

Now…to the coin…every coin has its’ pros and cons. In this case, this 1979-D has a lot of red color and very little wear. Being copper and they don’t make them anymore I think it is a good candidate to save in a flip whether it is an RPM or not. Some folks see the mechanical doubling and pass, but it really is up to you. If you like it and it has few negatives then keep it and thumb your nose at naysayers…Spark
