Well @Insider the first thing I see aside from the weird color and angle of the pic is.... hairlines from being cleaned. Final answer.
I think a lot of folks have hit all around the answer that he wants, but nobody's hit it dead center yet. The part that everybody is leaving out - is WHY it was done
Ok, now you're driving me mad looking at this coin. So on the cheek I see the hairlines hiding graffiti. Looks like the cursive FORD logo spelled out, lol
I just noticed that she was suffering from jaundice, was lying prone and looks like she had her hair "done" but that would be three things. I wait in suspense for the final act and the closing credits.
The cat has just climbed out of the bag. So time for a big hint. Several posters have noticed a particular area on the image in question. I want to know what exactly made your eye notice it. What drew your attention to that part of the coin? BTW, two posters noticed the area in question was "flat." Since that is something more easily seen in hand - they get a +. EDIT: OK, @mynamespat and others are looking at the cheek. What do you see? Not what caused it?
I think she had a tattoo on her cheek removed, but she kept the earring Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The first thing I really noticed are the hit marks around the eyebrows because they appear out of place and unnatural considering the surroundings. Next I looked at the strike, which may be a little flat but also looks worn. The area around the devices are gritty especially around the letters, suggesting a prior cleaning of some sort. It looks almost bordline whizzed but I believe they used a soft tool like a buffer instead of a metal device associated with "whizzing. Once zoomed in, small lines can be seen, especially around liberty's neck, which led me to believe this was an attempt at buffing out wheel marks.
OK, I won't insist that it was whizzed. But there was some sort of pretty heavy buffing that happened. I suppose, esp. if this is a really good date, someone tried to improve it...maybe buff out some graffiti or maybe they even added something to repair...something. Why is only the cheek lighter when there are obvious problems up into the eyebrow. That eye really bothers me. Too much wear for the nearby hair, which is higher relief. Wish I could see it in hand. Wish I could see both sides.
So what's the prognosis professor? I ain't gots a clue ( but nothing new there). Don't leave us in suspense anymore........
The area of the cheek seems to look like it's been repaired. I don't know what term you'd use, but it's like the dark area on the cheek is not the original surface and has been doctored
