So, I got $1000 in $2.00 bills from the bank today. I know to look for stars & fancy serial numbers but what other aspects should I pay attention to?

Ones before 1976 with red seals.

It's rare, but non-matching serial numbers. They have a good premium.

What is so special about "non-matching" serial numbers

It's just something that most collectors would love to have. It is a pretty rare occurrence, so people want it.

There are no "matching"numbers. Each bill has its own.

Each bill has 2 serial numbers that are identical.
When those numbers don't match, it is a desirable error.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying, I meant two mismatched serial numbers on one bill.

Also, I have a collection of $2 bills, that are like the State Quarters Program. Worth anything?

Well, I struck out. 500 notes and not a single keeper. No stars, no fancy serial numbers, nothing older than a series 1976...not even consecutive serial numbers.

If the 1976 is super crisp, there could be a little value there over face.

This applies to any denomination. But you are correct, they are amazingly, incredibly rare but they are out there.

Web notes only exist in the $1 denomination, in Series 1988A, 1993, and 1995.

Those aren't an official government issue. Some private company took ordinary $2 bills and put overlays/stickers on them featuring various states. If you can peel the stickers off, they're worth $2; otherwise you might have trouble convincing your bank they're worth anything at all.

I bought $100 worth of stuff from a coin guy at a local flea market & paid with all $2's...he immediately put them in one of his showcases with a $3.00 each price tag!

As I've been spending these 2's I can't believe the reception they get. Are there really that many people who don't know we use $2.00 bills?

Yes. Enough of them that a guy can sell a 2 dollar bill for $3
