Hello all! I would like some info. about these coins and the initials read "WM" for the maker of the original I suppose. It also reads, "Liberty America".

Actually it says AMERICAN : LIBERTY. I have the same replica made into a tie clip. WM is for William Moulton, who from what I've quickly found apparently did produce an extremely rare New Hampshire copper, but I'm not finding anything that indicates that our design ever existed other than as a replica. Maybe somebody else will provide the scoop. Mine might not have the WM. Mine has a casting seam.

The history of the New Hampshire coppers is murky at best. Coppers were authorized by the state of New Hampshire and at least some were apparently made by William Moulton. Whether any of these exist today is still a matter of debate. The one pictured here is a copy of a likely fantasy piece, the "original" that these were copied from didn't appear until late in the 19th century and is almost certainly not original. The pieces like the one in the last link that KBBPL posted is the one accepted as most likely original. It has a pine tree obverse and a harp reverse as indicated in the New Hampshire authorization for the coin. The "originals" were cast not struck.
