The NGC website has a modern gold example of the "Mega holder" for the largest coins/medals but has anyone seen one in hand? My only candidate is a proposed medal for the coronation of George I by Nicolaus Seeländer, a German engraver.

At 131mm and 835 gms in lead, the medal is filled with symbolism and could benefit from some kind of holder but what a beast the Mega holder would be!

Seelander was left in an impoverished position after his unsuccessful effort to produce this medal for the British coronation. He ended up creating forgeries of German coins of the Middle Ages, the bracteates, and used his position to authenticate his own forgeries.

I don't know if this is one or not. It is larger than the standard oversized holder.

Why not slab the Swedish plate money? Or the Australian 1 ton gold coin? Maybe the yap stone too ;)

"The large NGC Oversize Holder (OSCH) can accommodate most coins up to 120 mm in diameter and 15 mm in thickness." The Mega holder goes up to 180mm!

    I'm going to pass!

But, but... they're useful for self-defense at coin shows! Anybody tries to rob you on the way from your car to the front door of the convention center, you smack 'em upside the head with that big 'ol brick... See, it's USEFUL.

I'm going to steal this golden idea of yours and start a company specializing in holdering XXXL-size coins and medals. Just gotta find a plastic composition that's strong enough to hold Yap stones...
