Not exactly supermodel material, Austria's Maria Theresa is reminiscent of everyman's stern Auntie Gertrude, although the coin is a real looker.

Maria I of Portugal/ Brazil/ Portuguese Colonial Empire 1777-1816. Her son Prince Regent Joao later Joao VI reigned in her place from 1799.
She was not a looker, and went "Bala Bala" cuckoo in later part of her reign. Her nickname was, "EL Loco"
Here she is on my Brazil/ Rio Mint AV 6400 Reis. They struck many, thus they are cheap. maria-i-of-portugal-4f20ec10-260d-4d99-83f2-24f0c32efdc-resize-750.jpeg a1137907513fd7cb0706802e5547410a (3).jpg

    Elisabetha II of Russia
    AV 2 Roubles
    Saint Petersburg Mint

Sadly back in 1750s they were no fitness clubs, this chubby Empress certainly could have shed 80 pounds of more, no Grace Kelly 3fb088d50129937e9ef64b19b08856e8 (6).jpg Elizabeth_of_Russia_by_Georg_Christoph_Grooth-5c2d395046e0fb0001f25a1a.jpg for sure.

While she (on the OP coin) is no Southern U. Dancing Doll, to be fair, the husband isn't any looker.

I always thought that both Severina and that 'hottie' Galeria Valeria, were both hideously depicted.

I can't remember the song but one of the lyrics was: "She was so ugly that she'd make a train take a dirt road."
