1578 seems to be a year for siege (necessity) coinage.

Netherlands, Amsterdam, AR siege klippe of 40 stuivers, 1578.
    27.2 grams

    And here's a lion daalder for 1578:

Netherlands, Lion Daalder, Batenburg Herman Diederik, 1578.
    D-8575; Del 559 (R1).
    26.58 grams

I doubt it but I'm working on it. I just pulled the trigger on one today that will be one of the highlights of my collection. Will be able to post it on this thread when we go back about 15 more years.

Netherlands, Holland, lion daalder, 1576. This is the much scarcer variety with the knight's head facing left.

@panzerman thank you for the kind words. I'll post 2 or 3 per year. My first break will be 1465.

Thanks, I thankfully have AH dated coins now to play also. The Arabs were ahead of the Christians in dating coinage.
So were the Bosphorans, they dated in BE calender in BC!
