A numismatic and sentimental gift for my sister

When we were kids, we lived in Tanzania in 1972 and The Bahamas in 1974.

I added these two coins to my collection a few years ago, for purely sentimental reasons. Though each of them is worth less than five dollars numismatically, I spent nearly fifty dollars apiece to have them certified, just so I could add them to my (slabbed) collection.

Each of these coins is from the same year we lived in those countries.

For my birthday last December, my sister @Elizabeth Shamblin began building me a website, which was the best gift she could have given me. (As of this writing, that is still only in the earliest phase of development, if only because I have not yet gotten around to my share of the work.)

As a token of gratitude, I bought a fancy presentation box for the two slabbed coins, printed and laminated a little sign to go inside, and passed them on to her.

That is very cool. She will love the thought that went into that..... I have a little leather ladies purse that came from my grandmas when she passed. It has a few pristine 64 JFK halves that I been thinking of doing something special with for the kids. ICG told me that they would make me a custom slab label proclaiming that they came from grandmas small collection. I think that sort of thing is very thoughtful.

That sounds interesting. I’ve been wondering what the minimum quantity for a custom slab label is. LMK how that goes. If we ever get our pre-FUN Saint Simons Island January gathering off the ground, I’d like to have custom commemorative slabs as gifts for the early attendees.

Edit: autocorrect changed the word “custom” in my post above to “colostomy”, for some reason. Oops! We don’t want that! LOL
