Hi everyone! I have some gold Islamic gold coins. I'm not sure how old they are but as you can see they look very old! Any information would be great! Thanks
not sure the value, but that 1 in the 2nd pic Fatimid with the circles goes for big money. Ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sop...13.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=Fatimid&_sacat=11116 granted the ebay ones are in better condition. yours still has value. where did you get these ???
No they haven't been touched. It's just a gold clutch holding them in place. They can be removed easily.
You remove two words at the end, one of which was COINS and call it a political rant Jim. Please. I bet your bias ways gave me a point too no doubt. It had nothing to do with politics and I'm sure everyone can guess what that other word at the end was. Tell me how that was political. Those coins exist and I really thought I might see them when I clicked on the thread due to the title and was just expressing that I was glad I didn't. Nice piece by the way OP and welcome.
Yes, my "biased ways" about politics/religion made me intercede. Anyone who thinks they have been slapped for a rule violation undeserved can complain to Doug or Peter. There is very small margin to those rules.
Interesting fact. World's second most expensive/valued coin is an Islamic coin. That group did not even exist in that time period. They certainly don't have their own currency/coins You knew my thread had nothing to do with them you just felt like making an inappropriate comment. Never mind! There's always one! As a coin fan surely the word Islamic brings only one thing to mind... islamic coins!
It's actually fairly easy. Lots and lots of Islamic gold coins have been issued in the past couple of centuries, and you may like them all, or none ... or most likely something in between. Of course it is easy to guess what was removed here, but that is not really the point. Suggesting that a topic may have something to do with terrorism merely because of the title of a thread, that is a political comment in my opinion too. Christian
The coins in the OP's post appear to date from the time of the Crusades, and one may have been manufactured by Crusaders who sometimes copied Islamic coins. They should be examined by someone knowledgeable about these types of coins.
You might try contacting Stephen Album, he is a specialist in Islamic coins. Just google Stephen Album Rare Coins. (Only financial arrangement I have with Steve Album is I buy from him at times.)
