Today was a good day for the bear collection. First are two silver 25 dollar coins from the Virgin Islands featuring the spectacled bear and polar bear. These cost me a lot more than I wanted to spend, but unfortunately there was only one seller with them available on eBay so I had to pay his price if I wanted them, and I did want them. This is a problem with a lot of the animal coins on my target list, actually. There's a whole series of these and there are several I want, but they're just too pricey. Finally is a silver proof of the Alaska state quarter. I feel like it looks a lot better in silver proof than the regular circulated quarter I had previously.
1790 1.5 Ducat mint in silver. Some say it is a medal, and some say its a pattern coin. I tend to think its a medal. not a really good photo
This is not a pattern coin. It's a jeton celebrating the coronation as Holy Roman Emperor of Leopold II on Oct 9th 1790 in Frankfurt. They produced these for just about every coronation dating back to the 1600s.
MALTA 2 EURO coin 2016 " Solidarity through Love " Commemorative coin * UNC. off Ebay. this 1 is for my topical/themed "coins with hands" collection. sellers pics... interesting hands coin for sure. can you feel the love ? I can. lol
I'm in the process of obtaining this specimen from Ben. It was one that I really love the colors and condition of this piece. Even though I am not a huge fan of copper coins.....I've decided to start a new sub collection of my holdings called "The wild wide world of Woodies" There's something about Woodies that has really grown on me. My new member of the woodsters ...an Nicaragua 1936 Medio Centavo Another woodie to go along with my 1933 Sm Canadian cent.
Two news ones I got today. 1990 Finland 100 markkaa celebrating Helsinki University's 350th anniversary, and Canada 2 dollars half ounce silver coin.
I knew it was a low mintage, but not that low. haha yea I wish mine was a high grade. But it's what I could afford. Got it for about $30 over melt so not too bad.
I just won these on eBay: 1818 sixpence (I've always wanted a coin with George III on it that didn't break the bank) 1966 20 Escudos (I've seen this bridge, now called Ponte 25 de Abril, and liked how it's shown on the coin)
Yep, the bridge was renamed after the end of the dictatorial regime (25 April 1974). Last year, by the way, Portugal issued a commemorative €2 coin for the 50th anniversary of its opening. The image below is an embedded link. Christian
