Looks like same dies as mine. FAUSTINA Sr. (138-141 AD) AR Denarius Lifetime Issue O: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, Draped bust right. R: IVNONI REGINAE, Peacock seated on throne and scepter behind. 18mm 3.5g RIC-340, RSC-221 BMC (Antoninus Pius) 145 (same reverse die) Ex Robert Kutcher Collection (Triton X, 8 January 2007), lot 1606 (part of)
Nice capture @Sallent . I only have one to fill my portraits niche of my collection: RI Faustina Sr 138-140 CE AR Denarius m Antoninus Pius 17-4mm 3.2g
I agree, a die match. I also find it interesting that the toning is extremely similar. I have to imagine these may have come from the same hoard.
She's here. Thanks @Ken Dorney . The coin is nice. Good portrait style. Only a minor scratch on the cheek, but otherwise very pleasant image of Faustina. Look at that S though on the name...interesting shape. There is some crystalization and some mild roughness. Other than that, it is well struck and has great details...and it was cheap! And is that an unopened box of Cohiba cigars behind that coin? Oh my, a new coin and Cuban cigars, it's going to be a good afternoon indeed.
Oz, Such a great shot! Two of my favorite things, coins and cigars. Alas, I gave up the cigars as my wife hated the smell so much (I always smoked outside) I had to shower before coming to bed. I also largely gave up bourbon, another all time favorite. Again, she cant stand the smell. Even one drink and the smell makes her want to puke! Ah. The things I have given up for love (even my beard)! Not coins though. Completely under the radar and I simply dont tell her what anything costs (nor does she look at them to even question it!).
Lawyer ... congrats on that Faustina I coin My wife hates as well .... congrats again on that coin ... haters gotta hate

@Sallent, it looks better in hand and it feels great. You wouldn't want to carry many of these to the local market
LOVE the posts!! A very cool variety of devices and metals of the elder lady! BTW: I didn't purchase a coin from Ken (but will in the future)...instead grabbed a cool Seaby reference book "Roman Silver Coins"...which is great My contribution---- a dupondius of the younger: View attachment 593596
