Interesting thread resurrection. Note to self, for later: get ‘em a photo of the first large cent I ever dug while out detecting. You could just barely tell it was a 1796-1807 Draped Bust cent when I dug it. Barely. Stupidly, I tried cleaning it with electrolysis in an attempt to coax out the date on it, and I “burnt it up” in the process. (Do NOT use electrolysis or ultrasound cleaning on unstable corroded coins, folks! Lesson learned.) Long story short, it’s a pitted, featureless copper slug now.
