Hey! Does anyone see doubling on his ear? Some guy says he sees a doubled ear. I'm not quite sold on the subject. I've not heard of any. Have you? Anyways, these are the pics I have to go on.... Help much appreciated.
I Googled the question and this is what I found.. A 1996 Kennedy half dollar with a "doubled ear" is often marketed as a "Double Die Obverse" (DDO) error, featuring doubling on Kennedy’s ear, chin, or lettering. While some listings suggest these are rare error coins, they are frequently considered minor, uncertified, or novelty variations rather than major, officially recognized mint errors. Error Details: The 1996-P and 1996-D halves sometimes show distinct doubling, specifically on the ear, which sellers advertise as DDO errors. Value: Standard 1996-D half dollars in high, uncirculated condition can sell for significant premiums (up to $850), but this is due to their pristine condition, not specifically the ear doubling. Alternative Possibilities: Many 1996 double-headed or unusual Kennedy half dollars are actually novelty items created by combining two coins. It is highly recommended to have any suspected "doubled ear" 1996 half dollar professionally authenticated by a grading service like NGC to verify if it is a true, valuable, or common, minor doubling. I'm not saying it's a Doubled ear so don't tell your friend I said it is
All I see there is a Kennedy half, which for me is possibly the most boring of US coins. I don't know what the doubled ear is supposed to look like? If that is in fact what's there, good for you.
