last one today, in the large parcel I had today was this quite thick Indian head cent, a golden tone to the coin , not like other Indians, a bit like a flying Cent? I initially thought some kind of copy/forgery but seems after a quick search it could be genuine? Thanks Allan
Looks like a typical copper-nickel version. Nice details. This 1860-1864 copper-nickel type is Numista-1108. They are noticeably thicker than the bronze Indian cents struck from late 1864 to 1909. (The thickness of these is 2.33 mm instead of 1.47 mm for the later bronze type.)
Look in your Red Book. It was first produced as a copper-nickel piece and later it was minted in bronze.
