Not sure if this would be considered an error or just an oddity, but I’m happy to add it to my collection for face value!
Yep, I'd certainly hang onto something like that! I think I read about them long ago, but I've forgotten any details.
Now that is the real deal. Condition looks to be XF and the 1975-D is worth a pretty penny even in the circulated grades. The Weinberg XF example sold for over $1K in 2022. 1975-D 5C Jefferson Nickel -- Misplaced Mintmark, High -- XF40 NGC. Ex: Fred Weinberg Collection. From The Fred Weinberg Collection That is an incredible find whether in change or CRH. Bravo!!!
Thanks for the info! I found it in a roll today. This was a bucket list coin for me and living in the Denver area I was hoping I would find one eventually.
That’s interesting that there are some out there with a cud. Now I’m curious how many could have been minted for the die to break down like that.
Holy cow!!! $1,080.00! OK, @NLL - you get to hear my cat Bean's opinion on the matter. I only roll out the "BeanWow" animated GIF on special occasions, when it is warranted.
