Still us but the shape has been changed. These are elongated or rolled cents, all from Chincoteague, VA. It’s a National Seashore with lifeguards from Memorial Day until Labor Day. A wonderful place to spend at the beach. Good food and the people that live there are very friendly. Their famous lighthouse. They have a small museum with the original light from this lighthouse.
This one is advertising a store that sells clothing, souvenirs and sweets. It’s called Pony Tails. They make delicious fudge and they have a taffy pulling machine. They produce about 25-30 varieties of taffy.
And of course there’s the wild ponies. The ponies run free on the island but they are fended in so they can’t hurt you. Their diet is Marsh Grass do they have a high salt content.

That’s them and I got these shortly after the machine was put in. I was surprised to see it at the time. It used to be 2 quarters and a cent but I see they have raised the price. Thanks for posting that.
We did a short vacation on Chincoteague when the kids were very small. It was in March, I think. I remember seeing the wild horses, and I remember my determined daughter standing ankle-deep in the 45-degree surf and 50-degree wind, turning blue, and not wanting to come out - she was at a beach, and by golly, she was going to get in the water!
Just remember to save those pre 1983 cents for the elongated cent machines. Those are copper and look much better than the zinc ones when stretched.
@Collecting Nut - did you open your recent package from me yet? You should also have one of these now.
Not yet, I’ve been busy with life’s challenges. Probably next week but it is starting to get to me. Lol
