Over the next few days, I would like to post all of the US coins in my smallish collection. I want a thread for each individual coin. There are perhaps a couple dozen coins I wish to post threads about. I do not wish to monopolize the front page of this forum, though it might temporarily look like that. But only for a little while, I promise. I'm not apologizing for sharing the coins, since that's what this forum is for, after all. I'm just apologizing in case the frequency of my posts should temporarily crowd out the other content on the front page. My threads will sink, eventually. This will allow me a space to upload multiple images of each coin, add hyperlinks leading to the cert pages, brief notes on provenance, etc. All of which will create a page for each individual coin which I can then link to from elsewhere. All of this is in preparation for a website, which is in the earliest stages of construction. But I need a place to post the images and links and descriptions where the folks who are helping build the website can access the information. Think of all these posts as a sort of "rough draft" for my eventual website.
Happy to see them all. I very much enjoy reading the details and seeing the images of your collections. Bruce
Sounds like a good plan. This will also give you a backup of the data in case your website ever has a problem. Questions. Does the site come with a host for the images or is that something separate? Do you mind sharing what the cost of setting up a site is? I'll guess there is a monthly fee? I have always wanted to do something like this but have been too lazy to dive in and learn it.
Exactly! After now having had three different hosting sites and platforms die and disappear out from under me in the last 20 years (the most recent, CollecOnline, being the most catastrophic because I really liked that), I decided I want some redundancy. Hence all these coin posts here. I wish I could answer some of your website questions but since I’ve always been completely clueless about that stuff myself, I’m having my much more tech-savvy sister and her husband build it for me. She took on that project as my birthday present, and it’s the nicest gift she could’ve given me. Yes, it will have space to host images. Yes, there will be some cost but it should be trivial.
