United States: 1813 silver Capped Bust half dollar PCGS XF40. Cert. #28131688. Numista-10637, Krause-Mishler-37, Overton-106 (R3). Mintage: 1,241,903 (for all 1813 varieties). Ex-"drddm", Collectors Universe, 29 March 2023. His description: "Nice surfaces with excellent luster for the grade, and more aligned with a 45 in my opinion. Beautiful blue-green toning on the obverse among the stars and outlining the front of lady Liberty’s face combine with similar toning on the reverse with more rainbow colors around 50 C. Cool clashing seen as well below the eagle’s right wing." I love Capped Bust halves. Who doesn't? My previous "best of type" was an 1834 PCGS AU55 CAC, but that coin was a bit white for my tastes (overdipped, I suspected), so I traded it for something else. This current type coin is 15 grade points lower, but earlier, very original, and I like it more, particularly for its hints of iridescent toning. It will serve as my type example until I someday get another AU coin or- if funds permit- a Mint State example. 057500
Thanks. I owe the nice pics to the previous owner, since the coin lacks any on the cert page and I myself am a lackluster photographer.
Really nice coin--much better strike than my example of the 106. You really can't go wrong with Dave the collecting dentist. Mine...
I'll take it but you have to pay shipping, forget it I can't afford it. Wishful thinking. Nice coin congrats.
