Unknown Greek Silver - Helios and Rose? Help, please.

    Well, this one has me stumped! Never seen the type before, so I am going like everyone else and taking guesses. While the obverse could possibly be Helios I dont see any radiating lines one would expect so I would have to assume a nymph. The reverse, well, there are many similar objects on Greek coins which are almost always described as seeds or even buds, but this one is obviously a bit different. I did look through all of the BCD catalogs and didnt get a match (though I could easily have missed something). With its size and weight I would say its a trihemiobol. I would ask Curtis Clay at Berk, post it to Forum, or send it to David Sear.

    Well, TIF being TIF, I'm a little surprised she didn't include a picture to support her theory...

    Yes, that IS a joke. And no, I'm not suggesting she add a picture.
