Last year I had three coins come back with mechanical errors on the labels. One was a half dollar but the label call it a $10 gold pc. The other day I received what I thought was a nice Seated Quarter back in a flip. All it said was No Service / Refunded. I can't figure out what is wrong with the coin. They gave it a code 96.
Sorry for your woes. FWIW, I completely switched to NGC a couple of years ago, despite having once been a PCGS fanboy. Besides, as a World & Ancients guy, NGC makes more sense for the stuff I collect. NGC is certainly not second fiddle to PCGS in World & Ancients, despite the modest gap in perception/reputation between them in regards to US coins. And NGC’s $8 photography option (Photovision) is now vastly superior to PCGS’ sadly declining TrueView service. The only grumble I still have about NGC is those damned white prongs in their inserts, which hang over the edge of the coin and intrude into photographs. But paying for the Photovision imaging (pics are shot pre-slab) negates most of that quibble. I’ve had minor customer service headaches with both companies in the past. Neither is perfect.
