My latest nickel bank box started off with a bang right from the get go with a 1937 buffalo ender staring at me. Two more were found later, one barely legible from the 1920’s and the other a well worn 1913 only discernible by the raised mound reverse. Other notable finds were a 1997-S Proof, a 1943-P, and a 2024-P.

Cool. A Buffalo ender. Wow! That doesn't happen too often. A Type 1 in there, too. Neato, even if it was dateless. Nice shiny proof and a silver Warnick were icing on the cake.

Three buffalos, very nice! I haven't found one searching since the late aughts, well done!

Another nickel box was completed today. This one was pretty uneventful. The only notable finds were a low mintage 1955 and a 1953-S. The early decade count saw five from the 1940s and ten from the 1950s. Additionally, there was three from 2024 (not pictured), one P and two D’s.

My friendly bank tellers alerted me the other day that some customer rolled coins were cashed in at the bank. I purchased them in hopes of getting a good find. Unfortunately that was not the case. The only significant score was a 2009-P dime. Oh well! IMG_6769.jpeg IMG_4759.jpeg

I got skunked as usual. (W's. S's, silver, etc.) But I had 4 upgrades. Jovita Idar, there were a large number of very nice ones in these rolls (after they came out almost 2 years ago) and a decent Mary Edwards Walker I haven't seen many of those at all. And my first Ida B Wells I have ever seen after a year. This one will need to be upgraded one day but it filled a hole that has been bothering me. The strangest one was a Vermont state quarter. A little nicer then the one I already have. Seems MS to me which is odd when you find it in circulation 25 years later.

Even for quarters, "circulation" isn't what it used to be.

The one in my book was nice. It even toned a little after 25 years.
But this one had less nicks, and better luster. I kept the old one anyway.
I had been spending my replaced coins that upgraded. But if they are MS or close I am saving them. I had them in 35mm film canisters and they stayed intact. Less than 10 years ago I put them in Whitman albums and that caused a light toning but they still look very good. I try and get the best specimen (from circulation that I can.)
