@Dafydd, our resident Welshman, was in the States recently, but unfortunately we just missed the chance to meet up at the FUN show in Orlando. (Sadly, his flights were delayed.)

He PM-ed me to say he wanted to send me some gifts and some stuff for my giveaways.

I was intrigued, because he specializes in shipwreck coins.

He shipped the package from the US, so thankfully there were no Customs or tariff hassles.

It has arrived today, and it’s heavy. (Cost him over 35 bucks to ship.)

I have not opened it yet. Figured I would make an event out of that, and take pictures as I go- like people do in those “unboxing” videos on YouTube.

Ladymarcovan can’t believe my restraint. She said she’d be tearing into it immediately if it was hers!

Nope. I’m gonna finish the movie I’m watching, and then maybe take a nap.

Then we’ll see what’s in there, when I can spread it out properly and take pics. ;)

    Thank you, @Dafydd!

I’m looking forward to it! :)

The house is such an embarrassing clutter pile at the moment that the only free surface I had to work with was atop the kitchen stove, if you were wondering.

A small hole was opened, and he peered inside.

Lord Carnarvon: "Can you see anything?"
    Howard Carter: “Yes, wonderful things!”

No, this is not King Tut’s treasure.

Nor have I seen any shipwreck coins, at a cursory glance.

But there are indeed wonderful things inside…

I got sent to town on a “honey-do” errand by the wife, so I’ll have to resume this later. I also have a couple of errands of my own to run.

One is a trip to the post office, to send an outgoing mystery gift package to someone on CoinTalk. His won’t be as extensive as what @Dafydd just sent me, but it should be fun. And also a mystery.

By coincidence, I see two ancient Roman items in the @Dafydd package I just received, and there are two ancient Roman items in the outgoing mystery package I am sending out. There is a nice symmetry to that.

I don’t think anybody (even biting beasties) would mistake Lord Marcovan for Lord Carnarvon. ;)

I decided to go run that postal errand in Waynesville, Georgia, because the Waynesville PO is actually closer than the nearest branch of my town’s PO (since I live so far out in the boondocks). It’s still a bit of a drive.

Mistake. The Waynesville post office was closed, at 11:30 AM. Wanna know why?

Because the guy went to lunch.

That’s right. The. Guy. As in singular. And I always guess his lunchtime wrong. :shifty:

That’s how big of a metropolis Waynesville is.

Anyway, you don’t care about that. You just wanna see what’s in the package.

    I know. I know.
