On Craigslist in my area a man claims he has 55 Morgan dollars he will sell for $65 each. I am tempted. Any particular dates I should look for (I'm not a Morgan aficionado)

As it stands at the moment you can turn five bucks each right now regardless of the date. I would be a bit more concerned about a few of those Taiwan mint Morgans being scattered about the batch.

Yup, kind of what I thought. I would bring a scale, a magnet and a loupe, but I'm not really that good about picking fakes.

I'm immediately suspicious of anyone who writes "AAA+" on the holders. It's like the "L@@K!!!" stuff in ebay listings. I'm not sure why but it flags them in my mind as someone trying to scam.

Well, $65 is just about melt on Morgans and I've seen many dealers posting and saying they are buying at $62-$65 in recent days. Sounds like he might just be clearing out.

Since there's prices on the flips, I bet this guy got hosed a long time back with these clearly cleaned coins and knows it.... Therefore, he is cutting his losses now while the losses are smaller than they were a year ago.

The prices on the floors are not close to the going price for the coin in the flip. I’d be cautious as to the AAA+ on the flips. I can’t help but think he’s a scammer. As for the $65 price, that’s a hair below melt at todays price.

I'm kind-of thinking he got stung on e-bay and is trying to recoup some of the loss.

$175 seems like the magic number for them all.
Maybe they were just packaged and priced for retail or flea market sales. At spot, how bad is that?

$175 is overpriced for what I can see. Spot is much better but there is no wiggle room for a dealer.

Maybe but none of the coin dealers in the mall I’m in do that. I certainly don’t.
