Cheers everyone...here is a note that caught my eye as well. The star on it is solid instead of thin and open like some of them I have. Anyone know about this note? Chow....
The picture is too small to say for sure but it is that one of the 1928 Series notes? Color looks like it is and would explain the star being different.
it is due to when it was printed, i can see the series mark just to the left of jackson there and it says series of then the date and a letter underneath, but the pics are too small to make out
I thought it was series 1928 as well at first but it is actually 1934B series. Real nice one as well.
Thank you everyone for the comment. I am not so good with a scanner, so here it is again. Perhaps it is a littler larger this time. This one was loose in a paper envelope..moved it into a mylar sleeve yesterday. Chow...
These were made with Late Finished Plates #204. Very-very nice... Book says in choice it's value is about $1,500. The circumstances around the printing of some notes during this time made them a bit unusual. Serial number puts in into the low range of numbers catagory. I think it deserves it's own mylar sleeve :smile. Regards, Darryl
Thank you for the information Darryl. I appreciate it very much! How do you know it is plate#204? Chow....
You can read all about it in the latest edition of the "Standard Guide To Small-Size U.S. Paper Money, 1928 To Date" Oakes and Scwhartz book. The most recent edition is the SEVENTH edition - more up to date with values and information about the notes. You might want to check out this thread. Books on currency that you could use. Best Regards Darryl
I got better at the scanner I just tried the scanner again and here is what I got. I also meant to convey that my Dad worked in NYC for 55 years. I never knew he had this and 2 other notes from NY as well. There are many from San Francisco, Chicago and other cities. I am amazed at the beauty of some of these notes. Chow....
Howdy Fool4Gold.... Man waht a nice New York Star Note! I actually collect New York notes and currently do not have that one. They are rather difficult to come buy! May I ask where you got this note? And if you ever think of parting with it, I would be interested in discussing that with you. Sorry if I am being forward, but that is a nice looking note that I wish I had in my collection. Regards... RickieB
