Here is another one of my humble Mysia, Kyzikos examples ...

    Mysia, Kyzikos AR Obol
    525-475 BC.
    Diameter: 10 mm
    Weight: 0.73grams
Obverse: Forepart of boar left; tunny behind.
Reverse: Head of lion left, K before; all in incuse square.
SNG France: 380, SNG Von Aulock 1215

    boar & lion a.jpg boar & lion b.jpg

I'm fairly sure that this my only other tunny fish (and it is pretty weak compared to a lot of other specimens that I've seen) .... "tunny envy"

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

Way cool. Start collecting fish just for the halibut.

I smell something fishy, and it ain't a stinky, muddy wild boar.

Jango ... is that a cool right-facing boar? (thanks for posting both of your neat examples)

Hey, I have a tunny fish. Just got it in the mail yesterday so this is the dealers picture. You can tune a guitar but you can't tune a fish.

Hard to believe, such good condition at 600-480 BC, fantastic pickup stevex6, I only have a tiny bit of seafood on a coin crab and crayfish, SICILY. Akragas. Hemilitron or Hexonkion (Circa 425/0-410/06 BC) AE 28. 51049.l.jpg

This is a really rare type featuring a tuny at the base of Apollo's neck:

Miletopolis, Mysia, Civic coinage, 4th century BC. AE11. Obv: Laureate head of Apollo right; below, tunny right. Rev: MYLH clockwise, Bull standing left. SNG France 1301 corr (Tunny not described). Rare.

Before I lay-down my seafood examples, I'd best exhaust my Mysia Kyzikos coins first ...

=> here is a very cool coin ... it has great eye-appeal (better in-hand)

    ;)

I'd call that the best tiny tunny I've seen. Second best might be that one on alde's coin but it really suffers from being crowded by big pig. :)

Was putting a tunny fish, a shrimp, an octopus, a crab or a boar on a coin a way of thanking the gods for a food source? I guess we will never know for sure.

Not that I eye-up the other boys, but I have noticed that chrsmat is packin' a pretty hefty tunny (hey, I'm just sayin' ... I hope he gets a chance to post his big-fish)
