Is there something up with this date?

    I am having trouble telling what the date is. When I put on my glasses on and look at I get 1928 but when I use the loop I get 1923 with weird 2. What do you think is it a 1928 of 1923?

    They all look like that. And because the 1928 happens to be a scarcer date, everybody thinks they see an "8" there. I've fallen for it myself, a time or two. Pareidolia.

    I thought it looked like a 1928. That makes it the key date for the series. As a coin with silver it’s worth $71.00 just for the silver. As a damaged key date it’s worth more than double than amount. Congrats on a nice pickup.

    I thought it looked like an 8 and not a 3. The curves in that number just look like an 8 to me.

    You can see the top curl (serif) in the 3.

    There is no doubt at all it is a 1923.
