I already have a pan-pac half but saw this CAC one harshly cleaned (more like whizzed with a Dremel wire wheel). Never expected to see a CAC bean on such a altered coin? Any thoughts?https://www.ebay.com/itm/287071156858 Posting says cleaned by CAC?
CAC will not put a bean on a PCGS or NGC details slab. But CACG, the grading service, will definitely slab details coins. I believe you are just confused about the differing functions of the two services offered by this company.
It seems bad for the brand for them to slab problem coins in their regular holders. I would not have expected to see that.
Your comment made me think about something. If they are jumping in headfirst into the slabbing business plan, they may end up ending their stickering verification. Stickering the competition's slabs could become a conflict of business regarding their bottom line.
I don't believe they have plans to cancel the stickers, because that is almost a completely different business. The sticker means they are willing to make a market in those coins.
I don't know what they charge for the sticker, so I'm just shooting spitballs. It just seems like it could hurt their bottom line, I'm guessing slabbing brings in more money than a sticker.
As a comparison, I sent in a CBH to NGC with an obviously scratched surface but I liked the coin and wanted to add it to my registry set because it was the first coin I bought as an adult. It's worth about $100. It still looked nice and I wanted it in a details-scratched slab just so I could add it. It came back in a plastic flip with an altered surfaces label expanded description and it's overton # which I paid additional for.
