Vinnie the "Chin" Gigante lived in my home town with his family. He was the head of the Genovese mafia family and was famous for feigning insanity for about 30 years. He walked around Greenwich Village in NYC wearing slippers and a bathrobe and mumbling incoherently.
Ooh! Lovely! That looks like it had to have been Mint State (or very nearly so) when it was dropped! Let me get out my picture of Bean the Cat again... I think it definitely applies: That's why they called him "The Oddfather". I think the Roman Max Thrax had an even more prominent chin than Vincent "The Chin" Gigante! And probably had a lot more violent and dangerous underlings, too. Here is the first Max Thrax coin I owned, back in my novice 2007-08 Roman collection, when I first seriously got into Ancients. He's really got a chin on this one!
How does that "glob" turn into such a "stunning" coin? As @lordmarcovan pointed out, the details are amazing! Thanks for posting.
He’s obviously quite skilled at cleaning and conserving his dug finds. I’d like to see a thread about the process.
