My CRH setup and process - what's yours?

Along the way I picked up a couple of upgrades, like this 1895-O. They were broken free and added to the group, along with the TPG label.







I like the older albums for the older coins but mostly use the Danscos for the "more" modern ones.

It took over a month getting through all of the Roosevelts, especially the recent years. It gets to be a bit of a grind towards the end, but still tons of fun.

Quarters coming up next - it's a lot of fun seeing everyone else's finds, will share what I get soon; I have a lot of quarters to go through, and with all of the varieties they take nearly as long as all of the others combined.

 

I've got several rolls of 1964-D quarters that I set aside to search for varieties. At this point I don't even remember what varieties I was supposed to search for. But at $11 each melt value, I'm guessing those premiums are disappearing, too...

 

When I started doing the cents just after the first of this year, I figured for sure I would get through at least the quarters by years end. Well, that didn't happen, but at least I'm getting started. I ended up with two full coffee cans so for grins and giggles I put them on a scale to figure out about how many I have to go through.







63.8 pounds, at 5.67g each that's about 5,100, 127 plus rolls. Here we go!

First week of November I visited my local bank here in Florida. Looking for nickels and dimes. Turned me down flat for coins. ‘We don’t have any coins for customers’ They know I always bring 99.44% back in a couple days. Didn’t matter

I used to go through boxes but stopped in the early aughts when I started travelling for work. Since I only get a couple rolls of each every few weeks my bank (Chase) has not denied me, at least not yet. I hope you can find one that will work with you.

 

Finished up about 18 rolls worth, but before I get into those, we have two quarters that the wife found in the last few years at the grocery store self-checkout. She finds 'em, I keep 'em, it's a great partnership!

A 1944: I believe these were the highest mintage of the silver George's until the 60's releases, about 104mm.



And our only W so far, a 2020 Weir Farm

 

I started with 10 CWR, and about halfway through there were nothing but culls, and ugly ones, so I figured they must have been part of a return dump. Then, within about 10 coins there were 2 clad proofs!

This 2012-S Denali saw some circulation, no original luster to speak of, still nice.



The 1982-S must have been released recently, more mirror image in hand than the obverse shows, but the reverse pops pretty good. I thought for sure it was silver until I checked the reeding, still cool to find.



I would post this 1991-P on the error forum but it's so minor, I doubt I will even keep it. A small die crack on the reverse through the T in UNITED.



Not a bad start, plenty more to go!

 

So, I am now over halfway through this batch of quarters, and after finding those proofs in the first few rolls it's been skunksville! No silver, no Ws, no proofs - not even any near uncirculated older coins, usually find a few worth keeping.

Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. I've still got a couple thousand to go through, hopefully the tide will change.

 

Absolutely LM - definitely not complaining! I love finding those wild gems.

 

Finished the quarters on Saturday morning - no more silver, disappointed but not really surprised. I was also shut out on the Ws until just a couple hundred left and found one! Also, another S clad, that makes 3. I never used to get these, people must be busting up proofs for particular nice coins and spending the rest.

But the biggest prize was a fair 1999 P Delaware spitting horse! I really couldn't believe I actually found one, mainly because it's so hard to find the P varieties out here in the west. I'll post this in the Error forum as well in a bit.





Here is a fairly obvious misaligned die, 2022 D Wong reverse. This is probably my favorite design of the American Women series



I've got a couple other deteriorated dies that have a decent look to them, will also post them on the Error forum.

 

I still have to go through all of my quarter collection and photograph/transfer to better folders, but that has to wait a bit. Turns out I'm about to turn 65 and have to go through the whole Social Security/Medicare menagerie. My head is already spinning from all of the options, not looking forward to it, but will get back to the coins once it's done.

 

You made no mention of the privy mark on the 2020 MBR quarter. That's an even better variety than the straight up 'W'. Congrats on a good find.

 

I believe all of the 2020 W coins have the privy, but maybe I am wrong?
