I got duped in a purchase of a few "original bank rolls", and would like to salvage what I can. The plating appears first class, no pits, smooth, thin and uniform with great color. If they weren't plated, they would easily rate and MS65, or better. How I ethically list them? Are they "novalties". What wound you consider a fair price. Thank you in advance.
That’s a tough one. Wasn’t that long ago that the reprocessed war cents were the ticket. I would simply offer them as high grade reprocessed cents.
These are considered “novelties” and because they are plated they carry the description “altered surface”. They are basically ruined numismatically. There is no way to reverse the process successfully. IMO, your only recourse is to resell them honestly as “reprocessed” as a novelty. I’ve heard some people destroy them, but I don’t know anyone who has actually done that. However, those that don’t destroy them have the option to give them a decent and honorable burial…Spark
There's not much you can do with them. Maybe sell them for 10 cents apiece, but they need to be labeled reprocessed. They have been damaged irreparably and are worth 1 cent each.
