Fun thread! I think my absolute favorite thing about shows is getting to see so many different things!

Finally got my chain cent….. And if you believe that, I have a bridge….. Just a follow up to the Gallery Mint. This was one of their creations. And since I’ll never have the real thing……

Given my dicey gastrointestinal hangover from last night’s dining, I skipped breakfast this morning. Getting hungry now.

Not hungry enough, however, to buy anything at the nosebleed-exorbitant concession stand prices. Not yet, anyway.

Maybe I’ll fast until dinner. Maybe.

Hold out. Today is steak day. I don’t care if they have water or not….. I’ll do a Chevy Chase level break in and make it myself if I have to!!

Had to give a shout out to my buddy and regular local dealer. Locally known as Gilbert Coins. Known nationwide and on the web as PQ Dollars. The fairest and most down to earth folks in the business. A husband and wife team. Steve and his bride Lisa. Lisa is as knowledgeable on paper money as anyone in the nation. Steve ain’t no slouch either on coins. These are truly good folks and deserve your business if you bump into them at a show…… They don’t know it yet but if I ever get to retire, I am going to work for them.

Gorny & Mosch from Germany had some wow stuff (I’ve been wanting a 16th century thaler), but all the stuff that caught my eye was way beyond my price range.

One of those Roman aureii was prooflike, though my pics didn’t capture its flashiness.

Boom! Mission accomplished, at my next stop. 1564 Saxony thaler. No apparent issues, and I didn’t see any traces of old mount removal. Sold. 500 bucks. That one will go off with my NGC submission. I hope it straight-grades. It looks problem-free to me.

I failed miserably at photographing this exquisitely toned Barber half and pattern dime.

Fun little ANACS soapbar I picked up for my giveaways. Forty bucks. It’s a lusterbomb.

PS- the dealer had ten of ‘em, all 1999. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had consecutive serial numbers. He tried to sell me the lot. I only wanted one. In retrospect, if I find him again Sunday morning, I might buy one more.

End of Day 2 (for us).

Randy and I are both completely tuckered out, or as the British say, knackered.

Back to the hotel for a rest, before the long-awaited steak dinner…

Something from the middle row of the 3rd picture would be perfect for the give-a-way.

Nope. An early dinner first, then back to the hotel.

I’ll be having the soup (Zuppa di Stracciatella) …

    IMG_6250.jpeg

    IMG_6253.jpeg

… followed by the Filet Marsala.

    IMG_6251.jpeg

Randy will have the Shrimp Cocktail…

    IMG_6256.jpeg

… followed by (of course) … his long-awaited (drumroll) … 1-1/2 pound Delmonico steak, just as he had last year!

That’s a beautiful coin, Rob, nice score!

I would put money on this piece getting the straight grade. The surfaces look identical to the Wildman I purchased from Randy, in my opinion.
