Love this type, and it was one of the first bills I had in my collection. You got yourself a dandy, Edwin!

 

I always loved the Black Eagles too. I had three of them in my collection which I had to sell years ago. I like yours a lot.

One of my favorite bills. I bought one years ago but it's not in good condition.

I also like the bills that have trains and other nice images on the backside.

 

Very nice note indeed. It is interesting the the threads in the paper on both sides seem to be concentrated in two rows dividing the note into thirds.

 

Vernon/McClung is a pretty early one, pre WW1. Printed between Nov 1 1909 to Mar 14 1911. From an earlier era when Vets were more important than petrol stations!

I like these notes also. What is the symbol after the "8"?

 

I think it's just a part of the design. No special meaning that I know of.
