On a whim I called a few banks, more like 15, on the way home from work and there was a single location that had $20 of loose halves. I don't know where you're from but around here it's no problem to get halves from banks. I recently got $50 worth along with $100 in $2 bills to use as tips in the various restaurants I regularly frequent.
I'm in Atlanta and I can definitely say it's a problem finding halves. Only on a few recent occassions have I had luck, the usual response is "we don't get those but we can order you a box." Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
