China (People's Republic): 2016 gilt-enamel proof silver 10-yuan; "Auspicious Culture: Longevity" PCGS PR70 DCAM. Cert. #85911585. Numista-267166, Krause-Mishler-2297. .999 silver, .9636 oz. Diameter: 40 mm. Weight: 30 g. Mintage: 60,000. This coin, representing "Longevity", is part of the annual Auspicious Culture series of commemoratives. Obverse: national emblem of the People's Republic of China. Reverse: colorized gilt enamel image of longevity peaches and bats, which are symbols of good fortune. “Wu fu gong shou” in Chinese, meaning “five blessings surround longevity” (each bat apparently represents a blessing). I thought bats and peaches were an interesting combination, and the the enamelwork of the colorized side is very attractive. I think it resembles Cloisonné. PCGS encapsulated the coin with the colorized (reverse) side forward, so that is how I have oriented it in these images. Ex-eBay. Purchased in the slab, with the original mint certificate included. 009900
Beautiful looking coin. AI says the Chinese and Ancient Norse never met or interacted. Yet the Norse also have the goddess Idunn who hands out golden apples to Norse gods to keep them immortal.
