1949 s jeff

Just found this in change and it has some weird damage on it above the Monticello. Does anyone know what it is or if it is an error?thanks

Also the letters in pluribus are struck in the hole thing

 

Looks like a lot of wear and a lot of damage to me. A bit hard to tell exactly what's going on from the photos -- too much compression and too little contrast.

 

My guess would be road rash

 

I'm going to say that's the only 1949-S you're ever going to find in change in your life. Great find.
