I love when Kismet makes things happen. Back in October of 25 I mentioned to a friend that I was embarking on a new collecting interest and would have to order a new blank journal so I could prepare for new coins. (I assume most collectors are like me and get great satisfaction out of recording their coins).
Now I have a friend who makes handmade journals as a hobby. I didn't know it but they were making one for me. I kid you not when I tell you the trees on our property know more about my coins then they do. all the same, the journal they made me has 75 pages. The collection I am starting is of Barber coins. It just so happens there are 75 collectible dates. KISMET!
One other pet peeve I have is how all standard coin journals, ledgers etc. are made. You would think that people 100 years ago only used Dimes, or Quarters or some such distinction and so every denomination is segregated. That is not how coins were used or how I collect. I will be looking at all 3 denominations. Dimes for many reasons will dominate but I always prefer to know both what is not in my collection and what is. therefore my journal will have a space for each issue and each denomination. With any luck 5 years from now there will be 50 or 60 entrys. For now, 4 will have to do. Hope some of my pictures turn out. James

Very interesting layout; makes a lot of sense. I have never done a journal but that looks like something I would enjoy doing.

@ksmooter61 . This will be the 5th coin journal of my life. the first was a small, brown, loose leaf notebook I started at age 9. I get tremendous satisfaction from getting the coin in my sweatly little hands; and then truly make it mine by posting the entry. i never consider a coin "mine" until I reach that point.
Technically I won a 1909-S inverted "S" Barber Half on the last day of 2025 but, again, it will only counts as the first coin of 2026 because it can't possibly get here until the New Year.
3 of my other journals were made with handmade paper and came from the Minnesota Rennassance Festival. Thanks for your comment. James

That was terrific of your neighbor to do that! I am not a paper guy. I enter my tokens/coins into a computer spreadsheet. That way I can sort in different ways. Like: what coins did I buy in a particular month/year; or how many coins did I purchase from HA; or which coins cost over/under a certain value; or which coins are graded AU58, etc.
