Continuing with tetradrachms, latest is a Trajan Tet. I picked up some time ago from Warren. Trajan ( 98-117 A.D.) Billion Tetradrachm. O: AVT TPAIAN API CEB ΓEPM ∆AKIK, laureate head right; star before. R: Dikaiosyne standing left, holding scales with her right hand, and cradling cornucopia with her left arm; L I-Θ (date) across upper field. Alexandria Mint, Dated RY 19 (AD 115/116) 11.47g 22mm Köln 684; Dattari 655; Milne 740; Curtis 323; Emmett 372
Did it say Aequitas or Justitia? ...or did you look it up in an English dictionary. Dikaiosyne is one of the most common reverse figures on Alexandrian tets later, too. Septimius Severus Julia Domna Severus Alexander Philip I Salonina (she got tired after all those coins and sat down)
"DIKAIOSYNE (Dicaeosyne) was the personified spirit (daimona) of righteousness and justice. She was closely related to Dike (Justice)."
Comfy ... Mat, congrats on that sweet Trajan Tet (pleasant eye-appeal => I love coins with a comforting coziness) Oh, and great Alexandrian-winners, Mentor (that recent score is paying-off in spades, eh?) Hmmm ... Trajan ... sadly, I don't have any new additions (but I gots these!)
i always dig an alexandrian tet! i usually post one of my nicer looking one's, but here' my ugliest that i usually don't break out. aurleian/eagle combo....
Nice one Mat. I am trying to gain some discipline. Please stop tempting me to distract myself again. I will not look at tets. I will not look at tets. I will not look at tets....
Here is my only Trajan. It also happens to be my only provincial coin. I bought it for the unusual portrait. Trajan Silver didrachm, Ratto (1928) 2657; Sydenham 165 (refs.
