I only made it to First Class and was just a badge away from the next rank (what was that, Star?) but I turned 18 and thus “aged out” of the program. (I was fairly late going in.) Some of my younger friends made Eagle.
Here is a picture of my neighbor young man. I've known him since 1yr old. This quite a feat, Eagle Scout.
Let's wrap up Round 9 in a moment, which will end my round and put @BuffaloHunter's three rounds on deck. He put up some nice stuff for Rounds 10 and 11, but [spoiler alert] Round 12 is something of the "grand finale" for this contest. You won't want to miss that one.
It is time for the Round 9 drawing. Our lucky number was... 298. And Post #298 was by... @Mr. Numismatist! COINgratulations, @Mr. Numismatist! You have won my Round 9 goodies; the ancient Seleucid coin and the Mercury dime. I shall of course require your shipping address, and will message you shortly. After I ship the prizes, do please post to this thread later, after you receive them, so we'll all know you got 'em. Round summary in Post #1.
Let Round 10 commence! @BuffaloHunter gave to thee... A 1947-D Jefferson nickel, NGC certified MS66, with light toning To enter this round, all you need to do is: 1. Say that you want this lot, and 2. post something else coin-related or cheerful. Then, sometime in the next 2-4 days (depending on my schedule), we'll do the drawing and move on to the next round. You may of course say you want it for someone else, if you name that person. Round summary in Post #1.
They're great fun to dig, no matter the condition. In my detecting days, I found three half-reales, one 1-real (made into a love token), and a 2-reales piece.
Enter me please for round 10. Such a nice Jefferson nickel! Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!! And thank you @BuffaloHunter!!!
Thank you Paul and Kevin. Very thoughtful of you both. I'll use this as my Entry Post for my youngest grandson. Get him going on slabbed nickels. Happy New Year to all!!!!!
Thank you! Yes i'll throw my hat in the ring for this high grade Jefferson. I think he'd really like it, and be a great example of a "slabbed" coin for his collection.
Thank you @BuffaloHunter for the great prize, I would like my chance to go to @dano's Boy Scout. As a former scout and longtime leader I appreciate all of the sacrifices that these young men make in their quest.
