I think they have stabilized and will slightly increase at times and decrease at others, but keep a constant average

My choice isn't there. I think the prices are too high, but that they will probably go up.

My wife tells me that when these "1986 Three Piece Liberty Coin Set w/$5 Gold Coin" came out that they shot up several hundred above mint price. After about three to four years you could buy them for original price. I was under water at the time so who am I to say otherwise :)...

Have to wonder if these will end up the same way? I would hate to buy at the top and lose the investment in a few years. That having been said, I wish I really had one of those reverse proofs!

its about $270 for a slabbed PR69 one if you can spare it.

It has been pointed out that the Reverse Proof has dropped to $369.00 but the 2006W is still sitting at $150.00 raw and I think $50.00 for the Regular Proof. I am still happy with sitting on mine for a while. In Coinworld August 20th, CCC coins is asking $550.00 for the set

I agree that the quote above is the way this set will continue to slightly waver in price, but was still a very good buy for the original $100.00 price.

I think that the silver set still has alot of room to grow yet. All three of the coins will go up in value then stabilize. I dont have the experience with gold or platinum to give my opinion there.

well I obviously have nothing to do and have tracked the sets/individuals on ebay and the 06W have gone up to their prices from about 2 weeks ago. The reverse proof is staying still, does it make sense to buy a slabbed regular proof due them being limited with the "20th anniversary label"???

He means the coins are worth a whole lot less now than they were when he bought them.

Are you buying the label or the coin? Cause I can print you a label that says anything you want.

It is certainly possible that I misunderstood his meaning. But it is a somewhat well known phrase. And since I knew what he said to be true about the sets rapidly rising only to rapidly drop in price later - that is how I interpretted it.

When talking about a purchase you made at say $300 and 2 years later that same purchase is only worth $100 - then some people commonly say that the are under water regarding that purchase. In other words, they have little or no hope of recouping the money they spent.

Sorry for the off topic reply.

    Hi Ricky

Yes - X-Navy - Spent a couple year on the George Washington Carver - home ported in Groton, CT - Operating out of Holy loch Scotland. From there I spent a couple years at the Cape supporting missile launches at sea. Was glad to have served my country, makes you grow up in a hurry and really opens your eyes to what happens outside the US.

    Best Regards

    Darryl
