Was cleaning out the safe deposit box and found these - probably been there since early 80's. Did some online research and pretty sure neither of these has much collector value but just making sure not missing something. Not an expert on grading paper but think they are fine to low end very fine. Have mixed feelings on the $50, dont mind keeping the $2 around. I do have some oddball foreign bills I have picked up in my travels. Thanks, Steve
Neat notes. Thanks for sharing. But you must know that condition is important. The $2.00 Note has a torn corner, and the $50.00 note has been folded which has left a lot of creases. Collectors don't like those distracting issues.
I sort of like the notes like this. Shows that these were "working" notes but like was said, Condition is everything.
1926 $50 - Just think what the purchasing power of that would have been in 2025! $915! Shoulda spent it...
That corner on the two was probably torn off to let the devil out. Early on, the $2 note was associated with evil/bad luck. They were very unpopular (still are).
Torn corners on the two dollar notes were also torn off by elderly people with poor eye site. Glasses were not used a lot back then and they got them confused with a twenty dollar bill.
Thanks for the info - pretty much matches what I was thinking, especially considering condition and nothing special on serial numbers, etc.
