When I was young I collected coins with my grandfather and I have since inherited his collection. I was wondering if anyone has seen an error coin like this? And would anyone know what its value would be?
What you have there is PSD - Post Strike Damage Someone somehow wore off the blank side. If you look at the normal side you can tell that the edge is upraised. This is done to blank planchets before they are struck. On the blank side there is no upraised edge. Also.. See how clear the image looks on the normal side? You need equal amounts of striking pressure on both sides of the coin for it to look that way. So if the blank side Die was missing it would be impossible to get such a clear image. 1 more thing. If you could find the proper weight of a normal Jamaican coin and compare the weight to yours it would probably weigh less. Another evidence of missing metal.
