Germany (Weimar Republic), 1927-A silver 5-reichsmark, Oak Tree type

    NGC AU58. Cert. #5907139-008.

    Numista-15888, Krause-Mishler-56, Jaeger-331, Davenport-GT III 966.

    .500 silver, .4019 oz. Diameter: 36 mm. Weight: 25 g. Mintage: 7,926,000.

I like trees on coins, and have long admired this handsome design from Weimar Germany. This eichbaum (oak tree) type gets expensive in Mint State, but I found the price for this AU58 example to be reasonable. It is only a whisper away from Mint State.

Acquired at the 2023 FUN show in Orlando, Florida, 7 January 2023, for $225 worth of trade-ins. (I forgot to record the dealer's name.) So I have about $235 in it after getting it professionally photographed by John Baumgart (@messydesk). Considering it catalogs $500 in MS60 (as of December 2025), I think it was a good value overall.
