Thanks! Yes it's also made me more aware of what a CNG coin might actually look like in hand versus their photo. I recently was bidding on a Victoria "Godless" florin that had a similar look in one of CNG's recent auctions. (Unfortunately I was blown out of the water in the bidding.)

Yeah that's a die crack. The reverse die was evidently not quite as fresh as the obverse!

    hamman88 Spare some change, sir?

I just read Andrew Roberts book on Napoleon, looking to get some Napoleon coins as well. Did you know you can pick up a Légion d'honneur cross for like $2000? I'm keeping an eye for nice one out.

No I didn't, that's really cool! Andrew Roberts' book is terrific. I read it not long ago, and it played a major role in developing my interest in this era of history. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!

I’ll have to look for that on Audible- see if it’s an audiobook too.

Edit: nope, don’t see it, but I did already have his The Storm of War (about WW2) in my wishlist.

I'd skip his Churchill book, that was a chore.

I have a Churchill book in my Audible library (it was free). I might start it before too long. But the author of that one was Leonard Wibberly.

I commute an hour’s round trip to work each day, so most of my “reading” is audiobooks.

To bring us back to the topic of this thread, maybe I’ll look for one about Napoleon. (They don’t seem to have the Andrew Roberts one, as previously mentioned.)
