If you’ve read the recent Canadian Coin News, you may recognize this page. My images appeared in the Errors & Varieties column, illustrating a discussion on angled strikes and collar interaction. The article does an excellent job explaining the mechanics. What the printed images can’t do — simply because of the crop and print size — is let the reader really see the evidence. That’s why I’m sharing the full images here so readers can see what the text is pointing toward, clearly, comfortably, and without squinting. The full article is below, after the coin images.
John Regitko is not well-known for his accuracy. I'm glad that he gave you the recognition for the interesting article. Great photog!
I appreciate your work and efforts; the results are amazing! It's interesting when you and @messydesk post your methods, always a learning experience.
I don't know enough about error coins to have an opinion, but you're the second person to tell me that about John in as many days. If that's the case, it's unfortunate.
If one edge is fully inside the collar die and the other edge partly outside the collar die, I don't understand how the coin doesn't end up bent. Maybe it is and I can't perceive it in the images?
