On second thought maybe I'll make it an even 12! There are other emperors but there's something about Vespasian that fascinates me. I know some of you have a favorite emperor. Post your favorites.
What blasphemy is this? Everybody knows you can't have enough denarii of Vespasian! Great looking set and wonderful photography/editing.
Nice collection Ray. I don't know if 9 is enough but more wouldn't hurt. I'm not sure I have a favorite yet but I'm leaning towards Hadrian. I need to take some pictures of the nicer ones.
Vespasian is a great emperor for a specialty. He is interesting looking, has several good types and was a really significant player in history. Nice group. I'd suggest you consider adding a denarius from an Eastern mint. They have a distinctive style and even more different reverses.
In my opinion, there's no such thing as enough Vespasians . Definitely an interesting guy, and lists of varieties on his coins. I just got two new Vespasian denarii from Frank Robinson's latest auction and will be posting photos as soon as I can get decent shots (which for me usually means using natural light, which is unavailable at the present due to the existence of night.)
nice pics DR! some great looking vespassian coins with some cool reverse types there. i don't have a favorite emperor really, but i have more of this guys coins than anyone else...mainly from starting out with LRB.
Great Group of Vespasian denarii! Although, one is actually Titus. And Doug is right, an Ephesian denarius would be a nice addition. The style of those issues is superb.
hmmm.. i can't really say i have a favorite emperor Vespasian & sons emperors inc. elite members of the Flavian est. 69 ad.
it sure does! i looked thru and missed that. i guess that's why nobody wants to go snake hunting with me anymore..
lol, i don't know about that, are you saying you merely suggested it was and "poof" it was.. surely not.
I don't have any favorite emperors. I do have some Gordian III coins although I'm far more fascinated with emperors like Caligula, Nero, and Elagabalus. You know the weird, crazy ones. Gordian III
