    I am sure that this isn't an error but what is it a form of strike doubling or what? I see what looks like a ghost of both the nines and parts of Liberty and the outline of the head. I haven't seen it this pronounced before.

    The later the die state of condition will show this more than others. It is die deterioration. A common occurrence on late stage dies but not an error.

    Not really looking for AM, just trying to instill good posting habits.:smuggrin: No not really.
    I have not seen Machine Doubling, Late Die Stage. Die Deterioration, with that much off-set. The little doubled beard and doubling on all designs got me wondering about double struck.

    It's just a little of what's called DDD, Die Deterioration Doubling.

    It is very hard to tell from photo, but the edge from 9 to 6 o'clock looks like it has a indent between the face and rim. Which can be indicative of two strikes.
    But with that I will not make any definative identification of what it is or is not.
