This is a nice 55 year old coin I found today.

Minted by a worn die but it is in very nice shape.

They made this in business strike and proofs.
I am assuming the rim is not a proof rim. Nice coin.
When I find something like this I have to assume it was just purged from
someones collection, as any time in circulation will mar it.

Finding these and many early 40's, including silver nickels, usually indicates an economic situation that has people dumping their piggy banks. After WWII there were many nice coins in circulation. I found most of my early commemorative halves in the early to mid 50's. Down economic situations usually bring good findings. Finding 6 silver nickels and 1 1942 regular composition in 2 months makes for a good CRH.
