My latest coin gives an excuse to explore the circumstances this young prince encountered in his short reign and the mystery of the symbol of the mint of Beroea.....bird? griffin? some other mythical beast?

I love little design elements like this on coins! I have a wonderful 1/48 thaler from Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg with a little crane mintmasters mark. Most people would just pay no attention, but I love Polish_20251213_222735737.jpg the little bird! Probably the most part of a rather plain design.
