Gotcha, thanks. I guess I was interpreting the blues as areas of toning from contact with a paper envelope. Learned something!
Ugh. On this one, I see flat rims with a bit of finning at the top of the coin - and a rounded rim at the bottom. I'm not very good at this.
Disclaimer: I am NOT an MPL expert! I have eaten crow a couple of times in 20 years. lol However, I am the eternal pessimist on MPLs because they are TRULY RARE. Every year in the coin forums hundreds are posted, mostly 1909's. 99.99999% are not proofs. Looks like a business strike. 1913's business strikes can be pretty sharp, remember, the master hubs were fresh in 1909.
You might be on to something, that was my gut reaction to the pictures. HOWEVER, these are 2 pretty crappy pictures (IMO) and they are over-exposed (scanner?). There is a chance all that light is cutting the patina and this coin is much more brown than those pictures make it out to be. I reckon we'll find out soon.
